Junior/Training Choir Director

REQUIREMENTS

• Provide inspiration and leadership for an enjoyable music experience for children enrolled in the SYV for one hour 15 mins each Wednesday evening during the school year term. 4:30-5:45pm
• Coordinate with the SYV Music Director regarding program and provide feedback throughout the term and an annual report for the AGM meeting in July.
• Be available to direct two annual evening performances in the all choir concerts (Dec/June) and prepared to support the SYV in any additional opportunities that may arise (NBThere are also dress rehearsals before concert)

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

• Skills in developing sound musical programs for both the younger and older age groups
• Organisational and time management skills to ensure consistent and enjoyable children’s involvement in rehearsals and performances
• Ability to make decisions, work independently and keep all discussions and documents confidential.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 12 months related work experience with children and children’s music programs
• Experience with voice, piano and other instruments
• Experience with reading music and choosing music for children’s groups
• Excellent interpersonal skills
