Penshurst Choral Society, based in Kent, is seeking to appoint a new musical director.
We are looking for a dynamic director of music with previous experience of conducting choirs and excellent communication skills, patience, a sense of humour and an interest in extending and developing our repertoire to lead us from September 2020. Someone who can inspire and engage the choir with their passion for choral singing, along with a clear directing style and a sense of fun.
We are a keen, un-auditioned choir, 60 + strong. We sing a wide repertoire from early music to modern. We perform three concerts a year at Christmas, February and in June. We meet for rehearsals in Langton Green, Tunbridge Wells every Tuesday evening 8 pm to 9.50 pm during September to mid-June with breaks for Christmas and Easter.
We pay an honorarium per rehearsal and a fee for conducting concerts. We would expect candidates to be prepared to work alongside the committee in determining programmes, concert dates and so forth.
