Description of vacancy:
The Nottingham Hospitals Choir is a non-auditioned, mixed voice choir of approximately 25 singers. It presents four concerts per year at venues around Nottingham, plus other occasional local events. Our repertoire includes a variety of music with broad appeal - from classical and modern choral works to lighter music from musicals, etc. Further information, including details of past concerts, can be found on the choir’s website www.nottinghamhospitalschoir.co.uk
The choir is a registered charity and has been raising money for Nottingham's hospitals for over 50 years.
Rehearsals are term-time only on Thursday evenings, 7pm - 9pm at Beeston Methodist Church, Chilwell, Nottingham.
The successful candidate will start in September 2023 and will
• Ideally have some experience of accompanying choirs, but this is not essential
• be able to prepare accompaniments to a high standard
• have excellent sight-reading and score-reading skills
• be able to improvise supportive accompaniments for vocal warm-ups
• be able to play single and multiple voice parts as well as full accompaniments
• accompany the choir for concert performances
* there may also be opportunities for solo piano and/or vocal pieces at concerts.
Remuneration: £50 per two-hour rehearsal, £75 per concert.
The accompanist will be self-employed.
