Description of vacancy:
The Mid-Somerset Orchestra is looking to fill a current vacancy for the position of Leader (Concertmaster). The position is a freelance role.
The Mid-Somerset Orchestra is an amateur orchestra which rehearses on approximately 36 Wednesday evenings a year (during school term times) at Croscombe Village Hall BA5 3RA and promotes 4 concerts a year at Strode Theatre Street BA16 0AB with afternoon rehearsals. The position holder is required to attend all of these.
The standard of players in the orchestra is grade 8 or equivalent.
Duties in addition to being Leader at rehearsals and concerts are liaising with the orchestra’s Principal Conductor including preparation of all bowing for all string sections and providing and demonstrating string playing expertise as required.
The Orchestra is looking to fill this position early in season 2023-2024, rehearsals for which start in September 2023.
