Rehearsal Accompanist

Rehearsals run from September-July and take place on Tuesdays 7.30-9.30pm at Ludlow Methodist Church, Broad Street, Ludlow, SY8 1NH.

Ludlow Choral Society is a non-auditioned choir of approximately 65 singers. It presents two major concerts per year, accompanied by orchestra, organ, or piano, and performs at smaller local events. Although long established, the choir has moved with the times and performs works from the traditional choral repertoire as well as earlier and more modern pieces, including new works. The successful candidate will:

• have experience of accompanying choirs
• be able to prepare accompaniments to a high standard
• have excellent sightreading and score reading skills
• be able to improvise supportive accompaniments for vocal warm ups
• be able to take rehearsals from the piano in the absence of the MD

For the right candidate, there will also be the possibility of accompanying certain concerts on piano or organ.

Remuneration: £90 per two-hour rehearsal plus agreed travel expenses. The accompanist will be self-employed.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to a short interview and to accompany the choir during a regular rehearsal, on the 8th or 15th November.
