Description of vacancy: 

In early 2020, the London Welsh Male Voice Choir will be seeking to appoint a Musical Director. The Choir is the premier London-based male voice choir for Welsh exiles and continues to thrive with over 100 choristers. Generally, MD appointments with the LWMVC are for a minimum period totalling 4 years (including a 6 month probationary period). On this occasion the appointment will run up to and including our Festival of Choirs in October 2024 and may at the sole discretion of the choir officers be extended uncontestedby a further 2 years.

Our requirements include:

  • A high standard of conducting technique preferably supported by a recognised qualification.
  • An in-depth knowledge of vocal pedagogy.
  • An affinity for the Welsh choral tradition, able to pronounce Welsh to an adequate standard and an in-depth knowledge of the wider male voice choral repertoire.
  • A proven record as a teacher of choruses to singers with a broad range of musical knowledge and capability.
  • A record of team working with others to define and direct the development of choral performance styles and repertoire.
  • An excellent communicator with an open and positive disposition.
