Musical Director

We are a non-audition SATB choir with around 40 members. We rehearse on Monday evenings during school terms at the Wilmslow Academy, Handforth SK9 2LX. We present concerts four times a year on Saturday or Sunday evenings to audiences of 60 to 100 people. Our repertoire is primarily classical but in the summer we usually perform lighter works such as G&S, opera chorusesand folk songs. Rehearsals are conducted with a paid accompanist and the performances have a mixture of piano accompaniment, church organ and/or instruments to suit the music.The Musical Director is responsible for selecting appropriate music for each performance in conjunction with the Trustees, coaching the choir at each weekly rehearsal and conducting the public performances. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a practice to meet the choir and will be expected to conduct part of the rehearsal as part of their interview. Payment is per rehearsal with an additional fee for each performance. Rates of payment are negotiable depending on qualifications and experience.
