ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF MUSIC

                                                                               APPOINTMENT OF ASSISTANT MUSIC DIRECTOR

Ipswich Chamber Choir is a well-established group of around 45 voices approaching an exciting 40th Anniversary Season.   Friendly, hard working and enthusiastic, we give three concerts a year - in late autumn, March and June.  We meet weekly for rehearsal in the centre of Ipswich on Tuesday evenings between September and June.

Our repertoire is a mixture of a cappella and accompanied music and we enjoy new ideas as much as the well-established canon.  Recent concert programmes are listed on our website.

Our current accompanist/assistant music director is moving on after four years and we are looking for a replacement.  The person appointed will normally be expected to attend at least 75% of rehearsals each season, and to give the chairman where possible at least two weeks’ notice of unavailability.

The duties of the AMD are:

to accompany rehearsals;

at the request of the Music Director, to direct sectional rehearsals;

in the absence of the Music Director, and at the request of the committee, to direct rehearsals;

to accompany the Choir as required in, and to participate as agreed in the artistic component of, concerts;

to help ensure that the highest possible musical standards are achieved both at rehearsals and at performances.
