Description of vacancy:
Our current MD is Alison North MBE, who is retiring at the end of the season in July, after nine successful and memorable years.
We want to appoint an outstanding choral director with high expectations, who is inspirational, committed and dynamic, who can teach, enthuse and motivate young singers aged from 7 years to 21 years.
You will be responsible for the creative planning and ensuring positive learning outcomes for all singers in a safe and inclusive environment, specifically (but not limited to):
- Choice of music
- Teaching, modelling and developing young singers vocal techniques and understanding of lyrics
- Programming for concerts
- Rehearsals and performances
- Contributing to decision making
- Support for recruitment
Skills and experience required:
- Significant relevant experience of choral direction/conducting, including working with young people aged between 7 years and 21 years.
- Understanding of young voices and their development
- Commitment to principles of excellence and inclusion
- Commitment to, and understanding of, safeguarding and data protection
- Extensive knowledge of suitable repertoire
- Ability and willingness to contribute to strategic discussions and planning and to share practice
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Ability to bring excellent networks and support advocacy and fundraising
- Confidence in communicating with a range of participants and audiences, including the media, as an advocate and spokesperson
- Ability to reflect, review and evaluate personal and choir performance
