Chamber choir vacancies

Finchley Chamber Choir is currently looking for a couple of new male voices in particular, but altos and sopranos are very welcome as well! It is a friendly but hard-working locally based group of about 30 singers, usually giving five concerts each season in Trinity Church, Nether Street, North Finchley, N12 7NN, as well as other occasional performances at home and abroad and some BBC broadcasts. Our regular rehearsal night is Tuesday (7.45pm - 10.00pm) at our concert venue.

The choir performs the widest range and variety of music from the Renaissance through to new commissions, from unaccompanied motets and part-songs through to full-scale choral works accompanied by its sister organisation Finchley Symphony Orchestra. Basically, if it's suitable for FCC we sing it! We aim for the highest standards and work quickly so ability to read music and sight sing is required - you should have some experience of choral singing from sheet music. Of particular interest to those who enjoy solo singing, there are regular opportunities (not obligatory!) for solo and duet/small ensemble work within our concerts. In recent years choir members have sung all of the solos and smaller ensembles in major works such as Mendelssohn's Elijah and Brahms's German Requiem, for example.

She can send you an application form and then invite you to come and sing in a couple of rehearsals so that you have a chance to meet and hear us. After this you may be asked to come for a simple audition as this gives the musical director a chance to hear what you can do. Jessica can also discuss all other matters including subscriptions.
