Musical Director/Conductor

Application deadline:
Monday, 30 September 2024
Description of vacancy:

The City Of Lincoln Band was established in 1893 as 'The Lincoln Malleable Iron Works Band', it has been known as 'The City Of Lincoln Band' since 1987. We are a community brass band of around 25 regular players. We rehearse weekly between 7.00pm and 9.30pm on Tuesdays in the grade 2 listed Grandstand Community Centre on Saxilby Road Lincoln.

We are an inclusive band, welcoming players of all abilities, ages and backgrounds. We love spreading the joy that brass band music inspires in both players and the audience.

We have regular engagements in and around the beautiful cathedral city of Lincoln, playing in the castle and cathedral as well as playing at community events, schools and care homes. We aim to stage three concerts of our own each year to raise funds for the band and for charities. We are entirely self-funded from membership subs and from engagement fees and ticket sales from concerts.

We enjoy playing a broad range of music from pop to classical, music from films and musical theatre, traditional marches and hymns. We like a musical challenge but we also like to entertain and be entertained by what we play, the best performances and rehearsals are a mixture of both.

We are an ambitious band, with high aspirations to be at the centre of community events and visitor attractions in Lincoln and the surrounding area. We are excited to offer this opportunity for a Musical Director to join our thriving band, a director who is aligned with our vision and wishes to further us technically and come aboard on this musical adventure with us!
