Bath Choral Society are looking for an Accompanist

Bath Choral Society, an auditioned choir established in 1887, are looking for a new accompanist. The main function of the role is to play for Wednesday evening rehearsals, assisting the Musical Director in preparing the choir for performances. A suitable candidate may also as the need arises, be invited to play for concerts and to take rehearsals. A high level of pianistic skill is required, and a strong awareness of the musical needs of a choir.
Principal Duties
To accompany Wednesday evening rehearsals, 7.20 - 9.30
To take occasional sectional rehearsals
To assist, if necessary, the Musical Director in audition of new members, and re-audition of existing members
Additional Duties
To deputise for the Musical Director in his absence
To play for concerts as an organist, pianist or continuo player
To play for concerts on tour
Terms of engagement
The Accompanist will be engaged on a self-employed basis, responsible for their own tax and national insurance. The current rate of pay is £75 for each Wednesday evening session, with auditions and extra rehearsals paid pro rata. Concerts, workshops and tours, if applicable, are paid separately. Rates of pay are reviewed periodically.

The post is available immediately, and we would hope that the successful candidate would be able to take up the position no later than April 2020.
