Mendelssohn's "Saint Paul"
Village Voices (Northamptonshire)
The Village Voices (Northamptonshire) choir, directed by Ian Clarke, will sing Mendelssohn's oratorio "Saint Paul".
The work tells, in sung form, the story of St Paul and his progression from a fierce persecutor of early christians to one of their most effective communicators. Though not so often performed now, it is full of what makes Mendelssohn's music so attractive, and in his lifetime it was very popular.
The work includes parts for four soloists, for which the choir will be joined by professional singers. The organ will be played by Richard Dunster-Sigtermans.
