The Shipstone Street Jazz Orchestra

We don't currently have any vacancies but trumpeters are always welcome as are other players who would like to dep for us.

We are a big band playing swing and Latin from the 1930s to the 70s.   We have a professional conductor and pay a subscription (about £3.50 a week) which covers the hall hire.  We offer the first three rehearsals free as a try-out on both sides.

We rehearse every Tuesday from 7pm to 9pm at St John's Social Centre, Graylands Road, Nottingham NG8 4FD.  We're currently observing Covid precautions and the hall is well ventilated and big enough for social distancing.

We're a friendly bunch and welcome new members - you do need to be able to read music (around Grade 5 standard) but jazz experience isn't essential as long as you're willing to learn!
