Opera: Mozart and Britten at South Somerset Music Centre
South Somerset Music CIC
Having explored the operatic music of Gluck and Wagner, in this presentation Dr Francis Burroughes will give a fascinating talk on the lives of Mozart and Britten and their important place in developing opera. Britten almost single-handedly re-established English opera in the twentieth century. However, he was greatly influenced by the work of Mozart, who developed opera from the more formal and structured style of Handel, Sarti and Salieri.
