Caritas Chamber Choir

Caritas is now a mixed-voice choir of about 40 members. It was formed in 2014 by a group of musicians and singers from the Enniskillen area. As time has progressed, our group grows organically. Members seem to find us via social media, and wish to stay with us. We are also delighted to have a constant return of those teenagers who leave us for college, but wish to be part of our Caritas year when they are home.
We rehearse weekly in Fermanagh House on Friday evenings and often on extra evenings as we approach concerts.

The group members are diverse, and to show the group at it's best in performances, we often enhance the choral program, we like to feature the talents of the members: traditional musicians, instrumental players and many capable vocal soloists from within the group.

We have covered a wide repertoire of SATB works- a very broad repertoire encompassing Classical, Religious, Easy listening, Musical Theatre and Traditional Irish Vocal Music.

Caritas has found a niche now, as a Fermanagh based community choir; one who will be involved in fundraising, supporting local charities and also performing at concerts, arts events, and festivals.

We have been broadcast on BBC radio by John Anderson (2015 )(on Sing Out), recorded by Stephen Hamill on which John said about Caritas:"it is impossible not to be genuinely impressed with the infectious atmosphere and the love that they have for the choir, and for what they do". They featured on the John Toal Show (2018), and recently were chosen to appear on BBC News (2019).

One of our first charitable causes referred to us as "the Caritas family". That still sums Caritas up perfectly. People who love to spend time singing, rehearsing together, and thrive on being given a reason to perform and to lean more music.

In the caritas short life so far we have donated almost £15,0000 to charities.

We performed in the Ardhowen Theatre in April 2018- Caritas in Concert - A Variety Concert, and showcased the many different types of piece that we cover and used the concert to spotlight almost 20 soloists. It is the variety within the group that adds so much of the group’s unique identity.
We have now a group of keen followers and perform an end of year showcase with many soloists!
Keep watch here on our page as we will inform you of events and opportunities to come and support us. Thank You to the many people who have been so supportive so far. We thrive on that and continue to work on new material for any upcoming venue.

Helen Hamill, (musical director of Caritas) herself a pianist, vocalist, and musicologist has specialised in choral direction in Fermanagh since her graduation in music.
