Celebrate 80 years of musical excellence with the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra.

Join us for a landmark evening as the Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates its 80th Anniversary with a special concert at Victoria Hall.  This event promises a captivating programme that honors our rich musical heritage and showcases exceptional talent.

Celebrating a Sheffield composer

OSKAR BÖHME:
Trumpet Concerto, Op. 18
Featuring soloist Matilda Lloyd on trumpet

AMY BEACH:
Symphony in E Minor, Op. 32 "Gaelic"
Premiered by the Boston Symphony Orchestra in 1896, this was the first symphony composed and published by an American woman

This concert is a celebration of both history and innovation with the premiere of Daniel Whibley's Birthday Fanfare kicking off the night, followed by a tribute to Sheffield composer, William Sterndale Bennett (1816 – 1875).  Marvel at the virtuosity of trumpeter Matilda Lloyd as she performs Oskar Böhme’s Trumpet Concerto, and experience Amy Beach’s Gaelic Symphony, a trailblazing work in American classical music.
