Do you remember the Greenham Common Peace Camps? This Phoenix Choir concert features lots of lively rhythms, catchy tunes and powerful messages in a programme of music related to a range of protests that brought about significant change, including the American civil rights movement, equal rights for women and the peaceful ‘singing revolution’ in Baltic states such as Lithuania and Estonia. We look forward to singing ‘Freedom! The Power of Song’ with the fabulous ‘Call Me Al’ jazz quintet led by Alexander L'Estrange, and choruses from ‘The Gates of Greenham’, telling of the women’s march and the peace camps around the nuclear missile site at Greenham Common, and other songs of protest from across the years.
