The Phoenix Choir of Crawley

Phoenix Choir of Crawley is a mixed voice group who sing a varied repertoire. We perform three or four concerts a year using professional instrumentalists and soloists. We perform a wide range of music, from the great choral classics to folk songs, spirituals, songs from musicals and Christmas repertoire. Rehearsals are held in Crawley on Thursday evenings, led by our enthusiastic music director, George Salmon. Recent concerts performed with professional soloists and instrumentalist have included : An afternoon of Family Favourites, Gilbert and Sullivan’s Trial by Jury, A concert of Italian Opera music, Handel’s Messiah. Coming up in 2025 will be ‘Freedom’ by Alexander L’Estrange, with his ‘Call me Al’ jazz quintet, and Haydn’s Nelson Mass with professional soloists and orchestra. We are holding a singing workshop with a vocal coach as part of the Haydn preparation. We are a friendly group, holding a fun social evening each term, and every two years we organise a weekend away together for a residential singing tour. Potential new members are always welcome to come and try a few sessions without having to make any financial commitment. We have worked hard at fund raising to keep our subscriptions and ticket prices affordable.
