String Animateur

Location:                    Hockley, Nottingham

Salary range:             £20,000 (pro-rata) per annum

Hours:                        1.5 days initially

Starting Date:            1 September 2018

The role of String Animateur is a vital post at Music for Everyone, a unique, dynamic and successful music participation organisation for people of all ages in the East Midlands. 

We are looking for an experienced string specialist with a commitment to support and enhance Music for Everyone’s existing youth and adult programme.

The post holder will have proven strengths in directing both youth and adult groups and the main responsibilities of the post include but are not limited to:

• overseeing each Autumn the running and development of Stringwise, our highly successful youth string orchestra weekend and also conducting one of the Stringwise groups
• conducting our junior youth string orchestra Nottingham Strictly Strings (rehearsing on a Sunday afternoon in Nottingham approx. every three weeks working alongside the conductor of our senior string orchestra, Richard Howarth
• conducting MfE’s Loughborough Daytime Orchestra on a Thursday morning at All Saint’s Church, Steeple Row, Loughborough 10.30am – 12.30pm
• assisting in conducting our Blow the Dust off Your Instrument workshop days (adult instrumental days for players of all experience, grade 2 and above which take place twice a year in January and June)
