Preston Orpheus Choir invites applications for the post of Musical Director, to start in September 2018.
We are a mixed choir of around 45 members based in Preston, Lancashire. Our last three years have been extremely successful under our Musical Director, Elspeth Slorach.
We are seeking a trained and experienced Musical Director to take weekly rehearsals and conduct concerts. Candidates should have
experience of conducting choral groups with and without orchestra;
excellent choir coaching and rehearsal skills;
good working knowledge of the choral repertoire;
a sense of humour and the ability to inspire.
Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm in a school in central Preston, with an experienced professional accompanist. We give three concerts per year in Preston and the surrounding area.
The new Musical Director will enjoy the full support of the enthusiastic and hard-working committee who collaborate in the planning and organisation of concerts. We welcome candidates with ideas /contacts for possible collaborative projects.
Remuneration will be in line with standard fee levels.
