Musical Director

Due to other commitments, our current MD is leaving the orchestra after the summer term, so the Abney Orchestra are looking for a new MD to take over in September 17.

The Orchestra is made up of around 40 amateur musicians from Mossley and the surrounding areas and from April shall be rehearsing in The Vale, Mossley.  The Orchestra plays a mixture of light classics and popular film music, as well as delving into larger works through our successful 'Come and Play' days.  Performances have included self-run concerts, proms concerts and a new children's concert for 2017.

We are looking for a dynamic MD who has experience of conducting a wide range of abilities.  The MD is expected to attend rehearsals on Friday nights between 7:15pm - 9:15pm, as well as regular committee meetings and around 6 concerts a year.  In return, the Orchestra offers a fee of £30 a rehearsal and £45 a concert.
