Bristol Reggae Orchestra and Windrush Reggae Choir

Bristol Reggae Orchestra is a community orchestra established in 2010. It currently is made up of about 30 local musicians, who have come together because of their love of reggae music. They draw musical influences from reggae, ska, jazz, and classical music and play a mixture of original tunes as well as arrangements of well known classics, from the likes of Bob Marley and Lord Tanamo. They rehearse alternate Monday evenings in the Malcolm X Centre, St Pauls, Bristol. They bring together musicians of all backgrounds and abilities to create a culturally diverse and inclusive group. The orchestra aims to provide opportunities for music-making and share the joy of reggae with the Bristol community. They believe the orchestra is one of the UK’s most unique, inspiring and uplifting community projects.

In 2022, the Bristol Windrush Reggae Choir was added to the charity in response to local public demand and thanks to a grant from the government's DCMSH.
