About the event:

Is your music group missing out on Creative Tax Reliefs?

If you’re part of an instrumental, musical theatre or opera group, you could be eligible for Creative Tax Reliefs (CTR) – even if your group doesn’t pay tax.

CTR are offered by HMRC as a way to incentivize the creative industries. A common misconception is that you have to be paying tax to claim tax relief, but that isn’t the case. Charities that have not previously paid any tax can still claim tax reliefs and receive a payment from HMRC. All the groups we help claim CTR are registered charities.

Since 2017, we have supported 90 groups claim CTR amounting to over £1m in total. But we know there are lots more groups that could be taking advantage of this service.

On average a claim is equal to 23% of annual production costs (that is all rehearsal and performance costs that go into putting on an event). For many groups, claiming CTR has meant greater financial stability allowing them try new projects, larger scale programming and engage with professionals and more.

If you are an instrumental (with 12 or more instrumentals), musical theatre or opera group, come along to this this event to find out more. We’ll explore the potential benefits of claiming CTR, explain how the process works and how you can claim.

There will be an opportunity to ask questions via the chat function during the event.

Who this event is for: Anyone from an instrumental musical theatre or opera group can attend but treasures and chairs tend to be the key players in claiming CTR.

Cost: FREE for members

We will be using Zoom to host the meeting, and will email you the joining link two days and again two hours before the event is due to start.
