Accompanist

Yateley Choral Society is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Rehearsal Accompanist – this role is available immediately.  Based in Yateley on the Hampshire/Berkshire/Surrey borders, we are a well-established, ambitious and friendly SATB choir with around 50 members who perform a wide variety of music from sacred and secular choral classics to more contemporary works and lighter repertoire in the summer term. Our choir year runs from September through to early July and we perform four concerts a year in local venues, working with professional players and soloists as well as local musicians. We rehearse at Yateley Manor School GU46 6XH on Monday evenings from 7.45 to 9.45pm. We are a non-auditioned choir, but most of our members are music readers. We are a welcoming group and aim to provide an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all of our members, maintaining strong links with our local community. We are seeking someone who will work closely and collaboratively with our MD, James Casselton, to make a positive contribution to our rehearsals. The fee will be agreed dependent on experience. You will need:

• Piano accompanying skills and experience, especially in working with choirs
• Excellent sight reading ability on the piano
• A musical ear and ability to keep track of a rehearsal, giving notes and supporting harmony as required
• Ability to take sectional rehearsals as required
• A sense of humour!
