Uckfield Community Orchestra is a group of enthusiastic amateur musicians who get together once a week to play music in a relaxed supportive atmosphere. The Orchestra is made up of young people and adults who play at around Grade 3-5 standard. We welcome instrumentalists from age 9. We have a broad library of music. The choice of music is made by the Musical Director in conjunction with members of the committee.
Under the current circumstances and restrictions, we are holding online rehearsals via Zoom – therefore, the ability to facilitate rehearsals via Zoom is essential. We hope to resume in person rehearsals later this year – we rehearse on Wednesdays during term time in Uckfield and aim to give two concerts a year. We are community focused and play at local events to support local charities.
Applicants should have some previous experience of conducting and teaching, but we would be happy to consider anyone with a sound musical knowledge. We are looking for a person who is: encouraging and supportive; ambitious to help the group move forward musically and contribute to our learning element - whilst mindful of our limitations as players. We are keen for the person appointed to help with recruitment of mew members to help rebuild orchestra numbers following a year of closure.
Remuneration and travel expenses will be agreed
