Description of vacancy:
NYCOS is dedicated to encouraging singing for young people aged 0–25, providing them with new and exceptional singing opportunities. NYCOS was established in 1996 to deliver a national infrastructure for young people, teachers and choir directors to support and develop choral singing in Scotland.
NYCOS National Choirs provide singing opportunities at the highest level for Scotland’s young singers. Membership is granted by annual audition and is open to singers who are born, resident or studying in Scotland. The basis of the choirs' activities stems from a residential course where time is split between individual vocal coaching, musicianship sessions and sectional and full rehearsals.

National Youth Choir of Scotland: 8 July – 14 July 2019
NYCOS National Boys Choir: 1 – 6 April 2019
NYCOS National Girls Choir: 8 – 13 April 2019
The Associate Accompanist will be expected to attend one of the residential courses for whichever choir is chosen. During this time, they will observe and play for some sectional rehearsals, and similarly for some of the tutti rehearsals, all under the guidance of the course accompanist. Support and feedback will be provided to ensure successful development.
The successful candidate will work with NYCOS Artistic Director and Conductor, Christopher Bell and be coached by principal accompanist, Stuart Hope or another regular NYCOS accompanist. Candidates ideally will be based in Scotland and available to add to the pool of NYCOS accompanists in Scotland after the courses.
