We're delighted to report Make Music Day 2018 saw over 500 free performances to audiences reaching 50,000 people, and in locations as varied as markets to moors. 

This year's event was treble that of 2017 in both size and reach, a huge thanks to all who participated - bring on 2019!

Until then, here's a summary evaluation report of what was achieved and what this means for the future of Make Music Day.

The UK Choir Festival will be coming to Exmouth, Monmouth (Wales) and St Albans this autumn and will feature workshops and collaborative performances for vocal groups of all kinds and abilities. So if you're coming, make sure you stop by and say hello!

Last Minute Musicians is home to well over 3,000 bands, solo musicians, entertainers and related service providers from across the UK.

Across the country, 100 choirs will be singing and spreading holiday cheer in support of Youth Music.

After the overwhelming success of 100 Choirs fundraising initiative in march that brought performances from 10 choirs at 10 train stations across England on one day, Youth Music is delighted to announce that it is doing it all again! Partnering with Network Rail once more, this next event will take place over the festive season on 1-2 December 2018.

An ambitious project is underway; "Beethoven in Wales" is a cycle of three concerts in which all ten of his sonatas for violin and piano will be played at venues around Wales.

The project will both celebrate Beethoven and bring a broader range of music to rural areas.

Creative Civic Change has launched a new programme to enable people to use arts and creativity to make positive changes in their community.

The programme is a partnership between the Big Lottery Fund, the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Local Trust.

On Sunday 29 July, two teams of cyclists from Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra braved the wind and rain to take part in the Prudential Ride London Surrey 100 Peleton Relay event to raise money for the Orchestra’s Instrument Fund.  Amongst the 8 team members was Ben See, who is currently paired with the Orchestra as part of Making Music’s Adopt a Composer Scheme.

Fedioram, the Italian federation of leisure-time orchestras, has invited our orchestra members to participate in their third annual festival, taking place 1-4 November in Fossano.

Who is it for?

You can attend as an individual (65 Euros to take part in the 2 days of workshops followed by a performance, register on their website).
