Hawes Music is the publishing house founded by composer Patrick Hawes. Born in Grimsby, Patrick is an English composer who has made his mark as a torchbearer of the English musical tradition of Vaughan Williams and Delius. He is best known for writing the Highgrove Suite for HRH Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales, for being Composer-in-Residence at Classic FM, and for the Number One album Angel.

One of the most exciting – and nerve-wracking – parts of writing a piece is hearing the ensemble play sections of it for the first time. After all those hours spent kicking ideas around, shaping and re-shaping sketches and doodles into something recognisable, readable and playable, comes the moment of truth: how is it actually going to sound?

Thursday 4 January 2018 at 7:45pm, Bellfolk Handbell Ringers met at Honingham Village Hall in Norfolk. Peter Yarde Martin (composer) and Jenni Pinnock (mentor) joined us to introduce the first draft of the music composed by Peter.

Since meeting our composer Esmeralda at the Adopt a Composer launch in September, I've found it to be a complete joy getting to know her. We are so lucky to be paired with such an exciting and creative person! She also happens to be funny, fun and vivacious.
