Music Staff

We are seeking Music Staff for NYCOS Edinburgh Choir to support the Choir Director in rehearsals on Thursday evenings. Staff will already be trained in Kodály Musicianship with some experience in teaching young people.

NYCOS has established a network of fourteen Regional Choirs across Scotland from the Isle of Lewis to Dumfries. These choirs meet once a week during term time, where children aged 7–18 learn and sing together with others their age. As well as singing in a group, children progress through our musicianship programme (based on the Kodály approach) and develop skills such as learning to read music, pitching, rhythm, sound production and simple theory.

In recent years, these choirs have performed at major venues throughout Scotland including Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, Dundee’s Caird Hall and Usher Hall, Edinburgh. They have sung at events including BBC Children in Need, Children’s Classic Concerts and Christmas Celebration broadcasts. Qualified music staff are employed to assist in the running of these choirs.
