Accompanist/Repetiteur

Northampton Bach Choir are seeking a repetiteur/accompanist for January 2023.  The choir rehearses every Monday evening from 7.45pm to 9.45pm at Northampton High School.  The successful candidate will be expected to provide piano accompaniment for the weekly rehearsals and also to take occasional sectional rehearsals

Northampton Bach Choir is an auditioned choir of around 120 singers.  It is the largest choir in the county and performs a variety of music with broad appeal to a diverse audience – from choral classics to more contemporary works.  Recent concerts have included Handel’s  Messiah, Jenkins’ Armed Man: A Mass for Peace (with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) and Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and our future programme will feature Mozart Coronation Mass and Martines Quarta Messa, as well as Ethel Smyth’s Mass in D.

Terms: self-employed with an agreed hourly fee.

Essential:

• Piano accompanying skills and experience, especially in working with choirs;
• Excellent sight reading ability on the piano;
• A musical ear and ability to keep track of a rehearsal, giving notes and supporting harmony as required;

Short-listed candidates will be invited to interview on Saturday 17th September  and to accompany the choir at their workshop on that day.

The successful candidate will be expected to start work in January.
