We are a friendly, social and informal mixed-voice community choir (45 people) based in Kingston upon Thames. Unlike most choirs we have our own band that accompanies us when we rehearse and perform.
We sing a wide repertoire of mainly modern and popular music, including pop, soul, jazz and occasionally more traditional pieces. and have performed at the Rose Theatre, Camden Roundhouse, Hampton Court Flower Show, and Southwark Cathedral. ( see link to video)
The band is comprised of drummer, 2 guitars and bass and we want to recruit a new pianist/keyboard player.
You will probably be an accomplished amateur musician who plays for enjoyment ( as are the rest of the band) and need to be able learn and play from music, and be part of the process of adapting arrangements and working with the Musical director and other band members.
We rehearse on Monday nights in Kingston for 3 terms a year and perform in public 2 or 3 times per year. You would not need to attend every rehearsal ( unless you wish to) but as we approach a performance it is necessary to rehearse several times with band and choir
There is no age restriction but should have a sense of fun and enjoy playing with a band and a choir. Contact Jem by email -jemgoddard@gmail.com if you are interested
