Are you an accompanist looking for a rehearsal/concert role with a large, lively, mixed voice, South Wales choral society? Côr Bro Ogwr needs you!

A bit about you

You’ll be available to join us on Wednesday evenings 7-9 at our rehearsal base in TabernaclChapel, Bridgend. You’ll be welcome to accompany us in our three concerts a year, (usually in the excellent acoustic space at All Saints’ Church, Porthcawl) as pianist and/or continuo player. You may have organ experience, but this isn’t essential. 

About us

Côr Bro Ogwr was founded 25 years ago after a performance of Verdi`s Requiem as part of the Welsh National Eisteddfod. 

Members come from across Bridgend and Vale of Glamorgan counties to sing together in, we’re told, a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Since 2019 we’ve been fortunate to perform under the expert baton of Musical Director Ben Pinnow, BMus (Hons), MMus, MA, Dip. ABRSM.

As well as South Wales-based concerts, the choir has toured extensively across Europe, the USA, Russia and Barbados. 

What do we sing? 

We enjoy a challenge, singing a variety of music with a particular focus on oratorios, large-scale choral works as well as championing Welsh language pieces. Performances under Ben’s direction include Handel`s Messiah, Fauré`s Requiem, Vivaldi`s Gloria, while Ola Gjielo’sSunrise Mass gained new fans in choir and audience when we performed it in 2022. We’re still basking in the praise received after our recent 25th anniversary performance of Haydn`s Creation along with soloists and orchestra.

The detail

Fees: £55 per 2hr rehearsal and £150 on a concert day

Breaks: 6 weeks in summer, 2/3 weeks at Christmas. If there are particular circumstances preventing an accompanist attending a rehearsal, then this could be accommodated.
