We know that for many of our members there is a confusion and uncertainty around arranging and copyright, with fears of getting caught out for unintentionally not following the rules. This can be a significant barrier to celebrating the variety of repertoire that arrangements make it possible for groups to perform. We know arrangements are more important for many of you than new music commissions - but that is not reflected in the number of nominations for our Best Arranger for a Leisure-time Music Group Award.
Making Music have resources and advice to help you navigate this, but we are also keen to hear from you about your main concerns and challenges and how we can support you further to give you the tools to commission and perform arrangements with confidence.
We'll talk about:
- What needs to be taken into consideration when performing/commissioning an arrangement
- How you can go about obtaining the right permissions
- Making Music guidance and resources
- Your questions and concerns about the topic
There will be an opportunity to ask questions via the chat function during the event.
Who this event is for: Anyone is welcome to attend this event, but it will be especially useful for groups that comission and perform arrangements of music.

We will be using Zoom to host the meeting, and will email you the joining link two days and again two hours before the event is due to start.
