Inclusive Marketing and Communication (online event)
About the event:
Whether you are reaching out to new participants and audiences, or communicating within your group, are you sure that everyone is getting your message? This session will help you review your marketing and other communications, with guidance on tackling common communication barriers to make all the information you share more accessible, understandable and inclusive.
Your group has to communicate lots of different information to many different people – participants, audiences, committee members, artists. From advertising concerts, to emergency rehearsal cancellations, the messages you’re sending out need to be accessible to everyone. At this event we’ll talk about the practicalities of designing all your communications so they are readable and adaptable – choosing fonts, using alt text, writing for screen readers, using audio and video recordings and more.
We’ll also talk about the implicit messages you are sending when you write copy, select images, choose a format and where you post. Are your invitations to connect with your group including everyone, and how can you make your marketing work to open up your group to a wider diversity of people?
This practical session will be led by our Access and Inclusion lead Alison Reeves as part of our Access and Inclusion programme. There will be time for you to ask questions and talk to each other about the challenges and successes you’ve found with creating inclusive comms.
We'll talk about:
-
Choosing the right format and channel to get your message through
-
Practical design tips for creating accessible and adaptable communications
-
Implicit messages – writing copy, selecting images that welcome a diversity of people
- Anything else that comes up on the topic!
There will be an opportunity to ask questions via the chat function during the event.
There will be a short break during the event.
